The Crest. Rick Vermey, 2016-19. Folding Light.
Geometric origami-folded facade, in powdercoated aluminium, plus timber slatted podium screening. Contemplation of fluid surface patterns led to the artist creating a rhythmically repeating abstract design, which translates both two and three dimensionally into a compelling physical geometry. The result is a considered response to the phenomenon of changing light and shadow.

The inspiration for this artwork came from observing water surface ripples in changing light, whilst looking closely at the Swan River. The Crest building sits high on a rise, looking across Burswood Peninsula toward a distinctive neck-bend in the river.
The Crest, second artwork:
Woodlook timber finished aluminium slatted screening applied to podium levels. 7.2m high x 42 metres wide. Light and shadow play across the shallow relief slatted facade.
